Nishtha's founder and manager is Dr. Barbara Nath-Wiser who has been living with and working tirelessly for the well-being of the local people since 1984.

Who we help

Nestled up against the soaring Dhauladhar mountain range the people in the villages we work with are farmers, shepherds and labourers. Many are still illiterate and most have incomes below the national poverty level.

What we do

We work for the benefit and development of society as a whole by improving the welfare of families with particular focus on women and children. We run a primary health centre with a very active community centre alongside. We extend into the local villages with our active health education, women’s and environment programmes.

How you can help

Nishtha Community Centre has facilities which can be used by like minded organisations for trainings etc. We have limited opportunities for volunteers with something special to offer. Residential in-house training opportunities are offered to advanced level medical students.
