Nishtha at Rakkar Mela

Our local village fete is held on 31st May and 1st June every year. It is a big event for the village when everyone comes to enjoy the fun of the wrestling, side shows, trinket and food stalls. Nishtha puts up a stall there in order to make the local people aware of what we do, to advertise our social programmes.

International Women’s Day 2014

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year in Rakkar Village on 8th march . This year the programme was held at the village hall near Nishtha clinic and Community Centre. All the member of Nishtha celebrated this day enthusiastically .  After long hours of preparation, they were excited to do their performance. So at 10:00 a.m. our program began.

Nishtha Cricket Programme

Every year Nishtha organizes a winter cricket tournament in order to engage the young people of the area and provide the opportunity for them to interact with other young people from different areas and backgrounds. Preparation of the cricket pitch was started a month before the tournament began, work essential to the success of the tournament. Teams will come from all over the area to play on a good pitch. Clay has to be collected from a nearby source and laid in stages, our staff wetting and rolling it with great dedication until it forms a compact pitch. Every year we try to make best pitch and this year 24 teams enthusiastically participated and were very appreciative of prepared ground. All the players admired our cricket pitch!

World Environment Day

World Environment Day was celebrated in Dharamshala at Gandhi Smriti Vatika with a programme organized by Dharamshala Environment Society. A gathering of around 250 people from local schools, Government offices, the Government College, the Rotary club and Tibetan organizations as well local NGOs including Nishtha and Jagori came together, all showing their concern for the environment.

Nishtha’s Publicity Stall at Rakkar Mela

On the 1st of June 2013, as every year, Nishtha put up a stall at the Rakkar Mela. The aim in making a stand at the Mela which draws the whole village is to advertise our projects and programmes and to encourage people to participate and become interested in what we are doing in the village. Whereas previously we have put up posters and information sheets and tried to engage people in discussions about the issues in hand, this we decided to create a much more attractive and interactive approach by offering games to play.
